Default Hedgehog

We've got two of them around and they are always eager to steal some cat food or what else we leave at the terrace for our tomcat. I found that lil' guy right beside my BBQ and of course he froze at first. After I sat down beeing quite he grew some confidence and found the small bowl here.

I didn't want to use flash, so it was quite a challenge to get a decent photo with available light at a shady terrace in the evening - but this one came out pretty well.

Have fun,
Th.

Thank you!

As for distance - I'd say something like 0,5m When the hedgehog found the bowl and started to munch the food I moved closer and put a pillow on the ground, then knelt on the pillow and pretended to be something harmless. It was quite a while until the hedgehog believed me (hence the pillow for my knees) but the food won in the end.

You can really get that close only because it's the natural behaviour of the hedgehogs to freeze/stiffen when they think they are in danger.

The hedgehog was very shy and still stopped when I moved and when he ate it was quite hasty (but that's how they do it anyway) but still... he did it.

Regards,
Th.

th,

Wonderful picture. We have a hedgehog family in the vincinity. People throw food away. Dogs are curious but have full respect. Loveable beings
