Default Rusty - The new Cat

Rusty showed up at our back door about three weeks ago thin and hungry. Have been taking care of him and I think the guy looks like he is starting to feel better.

Nice looking cat jj, it's a shame if he's been abandoned.

Well done for looking after him jj !

Let's hope he doesn't start bringing you gifts of half eaten mice/birds etc.

Thanks Banksy. In the twenty-five years I have lived here this is the first stray to show up.

All I can say, he likes you!

Moths I could live with, mice not so keen on... but no way snakes....

A dog is like family. A cat is like friend. Cats stick around because they like you. Or possibly, because they like the menu.

Seriously, a barn cat is a wonderful companion. You aren't responsible to him; he isn't responsible to you. He just drops in for lunch and hangs out with you, but if he's gone for a few days, that's his business.

He might like you to touch him, or he might not. But you have a relationship, just the same.

I think right now he just likes the menu. Agree about dogs, my two are definitely members of the family.

JJ, thank you for being an animal lover.

Barbarian, very good description of a cat. I am a dog guy, and my older sister is a cat lover. You apparently have had dealings with both.

My white Shepherd is my 80 pound shadow. I know I am his hero, so I treat him accordingly. He is more important to me than most of the people I know!

Bagel, my beagle/basset mix, is on her bed right behind me. She is never more than ten feet from me, if she can manage it. Her happiest moments are on our rabbit-tracking expeditions in the cool of the morning.
