Wonderful pictures, Torgny. Classic dog and bone, like mouse and cheese, bird and seed. Good to see your girls doing well, enjoying that spring weather.

King will work on a bone that size, eventually consuming all of it in a day or so.

Hi,

Thank you, Frank and Robert, for viewing and the comments. The black one really has a hunting instinct. I would personally never eat a deer. Here is what she showed me the other day :-)

How "on earth" could I tell her not to do what she's best at, except for herding, namely to track other animals and over-protective mistresses

Torgny, I have seen that look before, when King would bring me a small Opossum. I think they are waiting for words of approval. A deer antler is quite a prize!

Let me clarify, that all the Opossums (four) that he has brought me were alive and unharmed.

I agree with Robert on this also. The kind words of aproval you give may end up with a larger piece of the prize for you!!!

That is another great photograph of one of your dogs Torgny, I like the pose and it surely looks like he is a seasoned model. Smile is just right, the intellighnce shows in his eyes and I can see he is quite proud of his prize. Well done!! (plus he is a damned good looking dog!).

Bagel, my beagle/basset cross once actually caught a rabbit, and brought it to me, kicking and squealing, with a "what do I do now?" look on her face. I said "drop it" and it took off like a rocket. Probably didn't live for long. Any rabbit slow or dumb enough to let Bagel catch it, is pretty much doomed.

And yes, I praised her lavishly. But the fact of catching it probably did more for her self-esteem than anything I said. She went home with her tail high and her head up.

Your dogs are very beautiful, Torgney and your shots of them accent that beauty. What a pleasure it is to have dogs for companions. We have evolved along with them, in a partnership. Dogs are perhaps the only domesticated animal that freely chose to associate with us. I feel sorry for humans and dogs who don't get to enjoy it.
