Default Hello From Bert - The New Arrival

Dear All

I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you who looked and left heart felt comments on my final post for George - your kindess and support have been overwhelming.

Its been a difficult time, but I finally decided to adopt a little chap and give him a new start in life.

His name is Bert, he is 2 and a half years old and has lived all of his short life in a kennels in France. He was purchased in the Slovak Republic to breed from. Nothing came of this and the little guy was looked after, but no more. He was not even given a name. He had never been taken for a walk with a lead and collar, never played with dog toys, and had never tasted HAM!!! He has never walked up and down a flight of stairs, and did not know how to jump up onto the bed. He was kept in his kennel and enclosure and his old habbit of pacing the fencing will die hard.

Bert is all ribs and backbones as he was only fed once a day. He has only been with my boyfriend and I for the last 3 days and on day 3 he started eating. He is a really affectionate little chap and is getting used to going for walks, and has taken to sleeping on the bed like a duck to water.

He has a long way to go, but we will have loads of fun and photos along the way. So its a big HELLO from Bert x x x

Fantastic photos, he seems to be taking to your boyfriend doesn't he?
I, too, adopted two dogs with similar story as your Bert...never brought in to a home, left outside, fed once, bred, no affection or any human contact. Weren't even allowed inside...had to struggle to pull their leads and drag them in...well, initially...now they own the home. Wouldn't have it any other way! Skin and bones and diseased when we brought them home, too. Now they eat, are loved, and are healthy. Good you found your new Friend.

Hi There L - oh bless, they are adorable. Thanks for the feedback, its good to know that someone else has had the same problems, especially with the lead. Yes, Bert and the boyfriend (aka Daddy) are bonding - like father like son !!!

I love the first photo of Bert with your boyfriend. Laying on his back like that is a sign of a contented and secure dog! So sorry about George, losing a cherished friend is extremely hard.

Wonderful story Diane, I love a happy ending and I'm sure Bert has found the perfect home.

Look forward to hearing of Bert's adventures with his new family
