Default Levi's Christmas Pictures

Since joining this forum, I can no longer take a photo that I think is good. These are what I would have been happy with before looking at some of the photos here. Feel free to give suggestions for improvement....

haha Sharon you are doing great ! there is some extremely talented people on here for sure but dont fall into the trap thinking you can not produce a good photo it takes the fun out of it .

I can remember coming on here for the first time not so long ago with my first camera I used to post mainly in the critique etc but I took everything on board that people said .

keep posting is the answer

Your right..constantly looking for what's wrong does take the fun out of it.
I've been using the "small box" focus to get the eyes sharp. Is that why the rest of the pic looks a little washed out?

Also, I wanted Levi in a softly lit tree, but he looks washed out as well...can I shoot into a lit tree in auto mode, without this happening?

To shoot into a tree in auto is not too good manual would be the best option and low f number and maybe drop the speed a little but this is not too good if your subject moves when dropping the speed .

you will catch good detail if the subject is still... this was taken with only the tree lights as the light source f2.8 1/10th of a second plus a little treatment

Thanks! I've been a little intimidated by manual mode. I think I'll give it a shot!
