The black cat died today, apparently poisoned. I'm glad I wasn't too attached.

Right now, I wish Steve hadn't installed a profanity filter. I don't care if it was "only" an accidental poisoning such as through rat poison. It's just as evil.

The fact that poor cat died poisoned by people or accidentally is sad, of course, but I just can't understand the mind of one who would deliberately poison a helpless animal.

Not sure if it was accidental or not. He was a cat, and did like going on the prowl. He had recently developed a slight wound, as if he'd been in a fight, so I suspect he could have been mixing it up with a neighborhood cat, and possibly upset the owner. People can be cruel, no doubt, although I don't know what happened to my calico, I just have a gut feeling about her. She was too wild to let someone catch her, so I don't think she was stolen. There are some coon hunters who live near me, and they like taking their dogs and hunt at night. That calico was a hunter too. She'd always be prowling at night. I know the mentality of some local coon hunters. If their dogs tree a cat, they will kill the cat, just to get the dogs to shut up, and continue hunting coons. That's what I feel happened to the calico.

We could use a little more gentleness in this world.

That is such a sad story. :sad:I have a question, though, how do you post the pictures? even my 2-megapix photos are too large.

That is indeed a sad story Jack, although I agree with Barb and the others. I have a calico named Snooky that came running up to me one evening in the parking lot of Walmart, of all places. It was raining and I got out of my car and heard this meowing, sounding really distressed, and then I saw her. Anyway, when I spoke to her, she just came running to me. I ran an ad in the paper but I guess she was dumped, because no one ever responded to the ad. Anyway, that was 10 years ago. This picture is about a year old, she's sitting on my breifcase in the front seat of my car.

This is a scan of a pic I took of her with my Sony Fd91, and it was printed on this textured card stock, which is what the line across the lower part and the textured look come from.
