my 1st attempt forgive me if it doesnt work...This is Bingo as captured with my new 300d with some help from photoshop

seems to need a bit of contrast....but good expression on the dog's face and good composition

keep shooting!!

Add more contrast and also darken those pupils since the red eye resulting from a flash is still visible even in b&w. Do those two things and you'll have a great photo.

For conversion to b&w, if you used either the desaturate command or the simple grayscale conversion method, check into the LAB way of doing it. Convert the image to LAB mode, click on the Lightness channel, work with Levels or Curves on just that channel, then immediately convert to grayscale. It makes a huge difference.
