otherwise known as 'Mom'.

This is the mom of the colt I photograph and post. And yes she is as sweet as she looks.

Beautiful picture and a beautiful horse. Butyou didn't give her a chance to fix her hair before you took her picture! :-)

She's still back in the 70's with the Farrah Fawcet look.

She's got a beefy neck i noticed! That's the way to go!

What breed is she and what do you do with her? Is she only a broodmare or is she a riding horse as well?

Yep her neck is definately beefy but the camera angle make it look worse. She's an Akhal-Teke Sport Horse and she's 10. The Akhal-Teke is a breed as old as the Arabian but comes from the Russia, Turkistan area. They come in two body types tall and whippy and a really solid beef cake style. Lou is beef cake. She's too heavy body type for long distance riding as she has too much muscle mass and doesn't cool out as well as the leaner type. Where the arab is Grey, Bay, Chestnut and Black, the Akhal-Teke is the odd butt shades, Dun, Buckskin, Chocolate Palomino, all have dorsel stripes, even the Silvery Palominos. I broke her to ride and she still goes out a couple of times a week, althoughI'll be cutting back for a couple of months as I've a new horse coming in for training on Mon.

Wow...the eyes of "Mom" are so very, very expressive.

Thanks for sharing, Suzan
