Hi Nick;

That is a very neat shot. Question... If this is infrared, is that moonlight? It's a great effect.

Hi Tom...
Thanks. It's not moonlight... looks it though. It's just a Hoya R72 filter slapped on a Lumix FZ-1. Blocks out all visible light, and only lets in the near infrared. Gives a surreal moonlight effect... b&w but tinges of color. You need lots of light and slow shutter speed.

Since I got this filter, I've been addicted to ir. The filters are inexpensive, but most digital cameras have an ir blocker so you can only do ir with a hand-full of digitals.

Nick, your 2nd shot reminds me of the aurora borealis (never seen one in real life though:sad. Very nice.

... nor have I. That along with the grand canyon are places I always wanted to see. Thanks for the compliment on the pic.
