Apart from getting all those right holder permission, or chosing your own home you, the architect built, there is no way to post anything legal.
One of the most known and old case is the Pyramide du Louvre by IM Pei. Not only the state, France, but even the architect will get rights on any use of a picture, even if Le Louvre is old enough for any architectural rights claim. Posting the Louvre only pictures, keeping out of range the pyramides, will only cost you the State French service which owns the Louvre to charge you for this. This applies in any country all over the world ! |

I can imagine the results if a good ol' boy in Dallas gets a bill from some French bureaucrat because he took a picture of the Louvre on a trip to Paris.

In case any body is remotely interested, which I seriously doubt, the original postin this thread isflawed - especially with regard to the sweeping statement that this maxim applies to "all countries" worlwide. It has been bugging me purely from an intellectual perspective, since I am involved in the architectural/construction industry. Suffice to say that issues of 'common cause', 'public domain' & 'commercial motive'inevitably arise - it would be a fun litigation, largely of academic interest only and really not bearing much relevance to a bunch of amateur photographersposting their happy snaps on a public forum. So I for one am now relaxing secure in the knowledge that I'm not going to be pursued by Perry Mason for having posted my rather moody, yet may I say very dramatic, evening shot ofour local public convenience.

God is nicer than that, he lets us enjoy other nature, and photograph it, he isn't into profits off photographers. We should be thinkful that we have Ansel Adams photographs and that he didn't have to be regulated by God or the govt when he took his famous photos.
