![]() bahadir Oh, that light again. Makes you lift some centimeters from the ground. And all those people with their happy clothes. One day you must tell us the secrets (mathematics) behind the architecture Torgny |

Thank you Torgny! Written or not, I was expecting your appreciation ; )
That's a good issue you made here! You know,Thales, thefounder of philosophy, scientific methodology and therefore the sciences, lived inthe neighbouring city of Miletos (two hours' drive from my home!)...Hemanaged to calculate the solar eclipse of 585BC. beforehand and also measured the heights of the pyramids depending on their shadows! Btw, although the first planned cities appeared at Summerian city states, thefirst grid line city planning which today's modern citiesrely onalsoappeared around here thanks to the architect Hippodamus of Miletos!Ah, many a furtherexample could be added ![]() Now let'sremember the golden ratio just for fun:!:You know the theory is easy; the ratio of thewhole to the longer section should be equal to the ratio of the longer section to the shorter, which shouldgive a value ofapproxiamately 1.61... Ok! Here we go! Now suppose that your height is 1.80 ...Take your bellybutton as referance point (I'm speaking in general of course!!) Nowaccording to the golden ratio, the most aestheticalbodyshould have a measureabout 112 cm height from the bellybutton to the ground level! Well, don't you qualify??? ![]() Have anice weekend! |

![]() bahadir Well, thanks for the elaboration on the anathomical proportions. Though, being one of those who wouldn´t qualify I´m personally far more interested in the architectural aspects (smile) Another time perhaps... Perhaps eating Mediterranean food would do the trick Same to you /T |

![]() Torgny, one must regard anatomical proportions to understand classical architecture, for classical thought considers human body as a microcosm andalso a menifestation of excellence (smile, smile : )Ah let alone classical sculpture, at which human body represents the Polis (city) and the Policy:!: Take the 'entasis' inthe columnscarrying the entablature...how itassumes the role of swelling of human muscles carrying some weight at ease:idea: So is the golden ratio, whichwas also widely appliedat Renaissance edifices such as churches ![]() |
