Ominous. No more people. Just those tireless, non-unionized robots toiling away without complaint in those cold, still buildings.

I remember one thing the tour guide at the Hill Hold Museum told us. There used to be a job called a lamplighter. He'd go out on the streets at night to light the candles on the lampposts then come back in the morning to blow them out. His job was made obsolete when electric lampposts were installed.

vv, Sure vv, if you read literature from let's say 1880-1910, approximately, russian or for that matter, nordic literature, lamplighting pops up now and then, candles or for that matter, gas There is a scenery in one of Chaplins short films, funny. In my language it is called the equivalent to "Happy Street" //T I want to think I know you a little by now. Perhaps you've observed that if I get someone on the hook, I keep posting :-)

Your last comment is funny, Torgny
![]() I used to think if people came back to revisit a thread I started, I had better post additional pics to make their return trip worthwhile in case they find the exchange un-enlightening. Now I'm thinking more like what you said. I'm holding back on some pics so people will respond if they want to see them. ![]() |
