St. Anne's Cathedral Belfast
Additional.... More work has gone on at this location with a new spire mounted on top of the building. To comemorate 9/11 I cant find my earlier posts of this Cathedral in this forum to add to... Before the spire is inserted 1. ![]() And then with it's new needle in the sky that will be lit up and be very visable in the night sky. 2. ![]() 3. ![]() 4. ![]() I will have to see it when the work is fully completed and see if it shines in the night sky............ ![]() |

That's an unusual spire indeed! Your #1 shot qualifies #1, btw

![]() musket, Very nice and informative set of pictures. That spire looks dangerous. Would be quite painful for a second coming from the sky (smile) Spire of hope - oh! Hope for what? 9/11 or 11/9 or whatever - what has that got to do with Ireland? (interoggative, concerned face expression) Yes, especially the first picture has got a compositional fulness. Nothing more desired... As usual very sharp pictures with a refreshingly restrained colour rendition Torgny |

and it's many translations from ancient textand comes from 'Matthew 19:24' whilst others might view this needle as resembling a large radio antenna broadcasting thoughts, hopes and aspirations to a world in need of guidance. Or perhaps it's non of the above and is just something unusual in an architects mind to brighten upthe skyline of Belfast...........Thanks for viewing and the comments ........... ![]() |

in architecture and design, possibly the same architects and builders were involved in their construction so there are a lot of similarities. Thanks for viewing and the comments ![]() |

![]() Btw, I should add that I also liked your #4 shot for its striking point of view, which,I think, remains the only perspective to be able to shoot the cathedral withoutits'needle' ![]() |
