Are bridges architecture or just feats of engineering?
Here's the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor and Detroit, taken this afternoon. The shot is at f5.6 at 1/500 sec, ISO 80 using the Schneider-Kreuznach 0.7 wide-angle on the Kodak DX6490. It's a little off-kilter. (2 degrees right) Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada |

Great perspective, Tom! And, in answer to your question, I would classify bridges as both architecture and feats of engineering!

Hi Geoff;
Thanks for the comments. This wasn't a particularly difficult shot, except that it was a trade-off in terms of getting everything into the shot or having all the lines "true". I didn't know until later that I was courting trouble, as this bridge has been under a terrorist alert since 9/11. Apparently people with cameras aren't welcome at the foot of the bridge. Too bad... it's such a great subject. Regards, Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada |
