Time to venture inside one of the buildings.
I can see we're going to be safe with this archer keeping an eye on things. 1. ![]() Time to take our seats for the banquet. 2. ![]() Interesting wall banner. 3. ![]() And this must be where the host sits. 4. ![]() Nice model ship on the hosts table. 5. ![]() And after the banquet; Sit at the fire and enjoy the musicians. 6. ![]() Interesting group playing tonight. 7. ![]() And of course the guard will keep out the groupies and gatecrashers. 8. ![]() Ah what could be better after all that; Anyone fancy a game of chess? 9. ![]() |

![]() These nine additional images makea great continuation series for the 'Carrickfergus castle' ![]() Btw, I likedyour including the example of tapestry (inthe second and third pics) illustrating the events of its age, which we see in art history books. |

Thanks for viewing and offering some constructive critisism. I found myself hurrying around the site, and I had not planned my route or my shots as well as I might have, maybe still thinking I had a point and shot camera lol. But it gave me some experience of using the D80 and viewing my shots afterward have added more experience to the exercise. this finishes the 'Carickfergus castle' series I started, this time around, I must add there is lots more to see than I depicted in my shots and as you liked the tapestry shots I think I'll close the series with another from the site. ![]() :|......... musket |

Thanks for your series. I t has been most informative with well taken exposures. In the last series my personal favourites are #2 and #9. Very interesting light distibution. Your camera handled the WB very well. This 18-135 Nikkor lens seems very sharp (Canon has nothing affordable to compete with in this segment) Perhaps one could be a Canonikon or Nikonanon person (forgive me my playing with words) /T Oh, what ISO setting did you use for the indoor exposures? |

Thanks for the comments. The WB and ISO were on auto, on checking the exifs, the camera selected 200 iso on most indoor shots and few times 400 iso, the DOF was very high also as the camera was on auto, some shots might have been improved if the camera had been on aperture priorty, portrait, or other settings and I had selected a larger aperture to reduce the DOF. |

Beautiful shots I have enjoyed every one of them.
BTW - Do you think they set up the chess board this way as a joke, just to see how many people notice. It is wrong in two ways. First - when a player faces the board he should have a white square in the lower right-hand corner. Second - when the pieces are set up the queen always starts on her own color. Thanks for a great series. |

Thanks for the comments. That's quite right on the set up of the chess board pieces being wrong. Whether it's done on purpose to draw attention to it, I don't know :-) ................musket |

Hagar ,
Yes that is correct, but trying to use Occham´s razor, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam's_Razor I would put it this way: The board (or the pieces) should be turned 90 degrees either way. The two problems are in fact only one problem /T |
