All the creative posts so far this week got me thinking of a series I did last summer of downtown Los Angeles in B&W that I never posted. I love these shots and the story of urban decay/renewal they tell. See the whole series here:

Perfect subject matter for b&w.

Was the second one taken from the 7th St. viaduct?

I reallylike this series, though there's not much renewal. There's certainly lots of decay, and the B&W really adds to the feeling. I really love the train yard photo in the gallery (I love lines and shapes that it captures). This series is SO effective in reminding me why I avoid downtown L.A. as much as possible!

Very nice indeed. I especially liked the first and the second ones. While looking at them, a sudden thought passed through my mind: How can we enjoy such pretty B&W images if buildings with rustic exterior architecture are lost some day? May sound a cliche complaint though!:-)

Thanks all for the comments.

Just to be fair, this was the east side of downtown LA. The westside is actually quite nice and new. You can see some of that here:

I just had four of the photos printed out and framed at 16X24 by with their metallic paper and they are stunning. At about $70 each for the printing and framing, not cheap (though I think they're competitive price-wise) but anyway they're so good it makes me thinkI could actually sell them and finally make some money off my photography.:|Now wouldn't that be a nice change to spending money all the time!
