Experimenting with telephoto (NOKIA N95)

I was playing around with the telephoto on my mobile phone... on a bright, really bright cold day. Here is an cottage, near mine... but I couldn't get closer without snow shoes... so I used the jok'n telephoto on my phone [I am so embarrassed to say "phone"] Anywhoooo, I fiddled with the ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, etc... took about 13 photos... this is the best I can do... sorry if the snow is to bright...

Yes, the buildings are that red here in Finland. I wanted to get the detail of the snow on the roof... but the sun was just to much to contend with.

Many thanks, Ordo, but I am new to digital stuff, full stop... any suggestions, as I have a ton of things to learn with software post-processing... I plan to go through some tutorials.

As you told us in other thread, you already have basic software like Picasa. There you have Automatic Contrast, Color, EV changes, sharpness, etc. It's very friendly. The important thing is you absolutely need to pp your digital picks to get the best of them. You have also sofisticated free programs like Gimp (a full editor) and Noiseware to combat noise problems. Even before you get your desired K7 you can begin practising. I did so only some months ago with the help of this forum and the improvement of my picks was amazing. Cheers.

Ordo, you are quite correct, I should process my images before uploading. As I mentioned earlier, I very new to dslr and even more so, to image processing... which means if I am to upload any photos, I really have some catching up and serious learning to do. I am sending you my process of the cottage. It is hard to do much without losing details in the snow and the shadows. Many thanks. Ned

I believe your Nokia phone uses "digital" zoom, as opposed to "optical" zoom, which is why so much of the detail is lost. Digital zoom means that the camera simply "crops" the image and adds pixels to bring it up to fool size.
