I was about to leave theagora dating back to hellenistic times, as this scene looked even more noticable to meunder the last available lights of onethese early winter eveningsof Izmir...

I like this one very much, Bahadier. I thought, at first glance that a bit more contrast would be useful. Then I noticed that the lion, the rubble in the background, the tree, and the moon were all properly exposed.
I fiddled around with it, and couldn't improve on the shot. Very nice. |

Thanks for your esteemed commentary, Barbarian. In fact, for many, that might be a dull image at the first sight, which,on the other hand, startsto seizeyou as you gaze into it

Love it. I found myself staring at the prey trying to make out it's shape and features. My mind's eye was filling in the detail of what was not there.
Fantastic shot. |

hello bahadir, I checked the levels because I thought it was to dark, with a lot of gray you need to dodge & burn to fetch out the light and dark areas, its quite a good photo really.

Hey folks, ain't the edit above great?!
Sir Alex! You've broughta light to my abilities yet again! They sayan image tells a thousand words... Ah! an edit, above all:-)And here's myattempt following your guidelines...Please do nothesiatatea moment to bring further criticism and suggestion!I also find the tree a bit queer above the lion's head.Stillit makes a good companion to the moon, IMO. In short, I was uncertain what to do about it, and therefore, simply kept it :? |

One thing I forgot to mention waswhen you duplicate the above photo, press the 'multiply' blend mode, then adda mask. You should then link the top layer with the underneath layer by using the mouse cursor. Point the mouse cursor on the line between the two layers. Press Alt and left click at the same time. You should then get an arrow pinting down, linking it to the next layer. The photo on screen then should go dark. Thats when you can start using a soft edged brush, painting back in or out with black brush or white brush.
Hope you can understand this and that I have explained it well enough. |
