I saw that building on TV last night. It's amazing. It reminds me of some of the new suspension bridges that have been constructed in recent years. It also brings back memories of the large ice arena used in the Squaw Valley Winter Olympics near Lake Tahoe back in the 1960's. The roof was supported by large beams and cables about the roof. Some people were actually afraid to go into the building because, from inside, there was no visible means of support for the roof. I suspect the same holds true for this arena in Athens.

Great photo.

Calr, thanks for your comments. Yes, it is an amazing building, the architect that designed it is Santiago Calatrava. Here you can find more about his work and the Olympic buildings he designed : http://www.calatrava.com/
