I know this is a US based site, and that Americans love to visit quaint English pubs when they come over. So here's one for you, this is in Ludlow, Shropshire, one of the Midland's most attractive towns.

I think the image of English pubs serving warm beer is as outdated as the stereotype of London being foggy and all Englishmen wearing bowler hats and reading the financial times. All English pubs serve a variety of beers and wines etc including chilled beers and continental beers.

I cant remember the last time I had a warm beer. I'd take it back to the bar if I did!

I like the beer, especially Newcastle Brown Ale. Years ago (May '74) I spent an evening with my wife in a wonderfully atmospheric pub in Boroughbridge, Yorkshire. Can't remember the name, but we stayed overnight and in the morning, on our way to breakfast I saw a scene that remains forever etched in my memory bank. Sorry, no pix, but here is a description:

The door to the scullery (kitchen ?) was open and I saw a large brindle coloured, Great Dane, splay- legged, in order to eat from it's bowl.

The kitchen was huge, all stone and looked like it probably did , 400 years ago. No modern equipment, just vegetables , meats and fish, ready for preparation , lying on big, wooden tables.

Very early in the morning, sunlight was streaming through a large window.

The dog looked up at me and the scene could of been from the 1600s. I believe the Pub was at least that old.

Love drinking in English pubs, either in warm weather sitting outside by a canal, or in cold weather sitting near a fire. Keep up the pub pictures!
