Seems the Pentax has more canon-like colour rendition. It also has the obvious advantages of dust reduction and in-house image stabilisation.
Searching myself for more wide-angle opportunities, I wish you´ll find your DSLR. There are many competitors on the market. It´s not necessarily a question of Canon or Nikon any more /T |

It's funny. When I used film, I'd do about 90% of my shots with Nikons or Nikkormats, and the rest with Pentax Spotmatics.
But in digital, the Pentax seems to have it over the corresponding Nikon. Saving my dimes for K10D. |

Bahadir
You should, If you get a chance try a few more cameras. Noticeable difference to me, between the two are the WB, contrast, brightness, saturation and file size of the photo's. the D40's WB seems to be more blue whilst the k100d is more red. more saturation and contrast in the k100d hence the larger file size. DOF same in both as is the definition. Nothing I see between them that PP wouldn't equalise in this test..........musket ps. the faint blue pic on the near pc monitor on the counter seems more apparent in the d40 shot  |

Thank you all for your interest. The more I speak to people from the good old film days the more I hear about their anectodes on Pentax. They speak of the durability and reliability of their cameras. Well, my dad preferred Yashica over Nikon before I was born, now I might be going for the Pentax instead of the Nikon:-)
musket , what othercameras would you suggest me to try in that retail store? Well, my outgoing manner works insuch places, yet I, too, should spend my credit sparingly:-) Ah, btw, a photo I shot with the k100dlooked a bit blurry to me. Well, maybe it is because I did not turn on the SR and shot it at a slow shutter speed of 1/45 @ f/3.5 Hope it's not due to AF:?I brought the AFissue to Pentax forums also. http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=80 |

that go along with them, I think that an alpha 100 with two kit lenses is near the price range of a d80 with only one lens. and a lot of web sites are knocking down prices as they compete with one another. The only concern I would have about SR in the camera is it's resistance to camera shocks, and as it is another moving part it is one extra thing that can go wrong. (no mention of life expectancy like shutter life eg 50,000 cycles in any of the reviews I have come across on the web)................musket |
