Just picked up this lens today and drove by a construction site. Thought the framing of the building would provide an idea of its capabilities.

Both were shot at the wide (12mm) end. First one at F11 the second at F14.

Yeah, I was waiting to find a slightly used one...but finally decided the wait wasn't worth it since (with shipping, PayPal fees) I probably wouldn't save much. Walter |

Here is a comparison of the wide and long ends. Taken on a cloudy day.

Nice pics Walter. I going to take the plunge and buy the Tokina 12-24 at the end of the month.

I guess I should just bite the bullet, so to speak, and just get one. I had been to a camera shop here and inquired about the lens and it was somewhere a little over $1000...yikes...that was a Sigma lens! I know I can get the Tokina for half that at BH Photo, although I have to consider the U.S. exchange. It would still be a lot cheaper though than what I'd pay here. And what I like about the Tokina opposed to the Sigma is that it has a fixed aperture of f4 compared to the Sigma being an f4.5-5.6.
Thanks for posting the comparison shots. It really does look like a really great lens! ~~StitchBabe~~ |
