Texas has some wonderful county courthouse architecture. This one is in Waxahachie, about 35 mile south of Dallas. It is a picturesque town with thriving tourism centered around the courthouse square. The town was first settled in 1845. A few years ago a nearby location was selected as the site for a new multi-billion dollar super collider facility - which was later scrapped. A nice place to visit if you're ever in North Texas.

The previous photo was taken from the rear of the building due to the position of the sun. Here's a side view.

Demonstrative captures of beautiful architecture highlighting Romanesque elements, which display once the grandeur of the South
![]() Your somehow dreamy framing, also, made me remember scenes from related classics such as 'Gone with the Wind'... |

That is really very cool looking courthouse, I have got to make it back down to Texas. I haven't been there for thirty years and that was in Air Force boot camp, I really didn't get to enjoy your fine state like I would have liked.

Someone could build afun portfolio going from county to county and photographing these courthouses. I go through several myself driving between Dallas and Wichita Falls to visit family, but have never stopped to record them...always in a hurry to get from one point to the next. Beautiful images, Walter.

Yes, it would be a fun project. Maybe we should team up and do it. Then again, with 255 counties in Texas, we may need to recruit a couple more folks. |

Can I have Denton to the Red River? You know, there are some stupendously ugly ones out there. There's onein NE Texas that's a big aluminum covered box. Hideous.
I like the idea. There are only 254 counties. How long could ittake? |

At 4 per weekend, it would take over a year (and a lot of gasoline). We'd definitely need to share the job with some other Texans.
