It's for sure that I find such rough surfaces appealing.
In architecture too, I prefer a rustic finish to a polished one. So, the one you sent is like an overdose to me!! I would like to see some more of the image if it's a crop. Please consider my edit as my compliment(hope not a rude one) to your kind treat. |

The scientist in me is wondering about the particulars. Urban? Obviously old. How old?
The scoops and peaks suggest mechanical erosion. How sideways? C'mon. You've gotten me curious. Oh, BTW, very interesting and well-exposed pictures. |

here are a couple more to hopefully show its from a wall. its actualy the side of part of an old mill, it just seems to catch the weather or its a really soft batch of stone they used to build with, its purely the wind and rain that as eroded the stone over the years, never seen it quite this bad, lots of houses round here are built out of the same stone
it doesnt show up quite the same in there shots thats why i posted the other one ![]() ![]() |

Thank you for the contributory info and the shots, Gary.
Sandstone, whose essence you've captured, has always been a great material for architects and sculptors. Take the Great Sphinx for example, with a height of 20m, and was carved from an actual hill of sandstone! |
