Actually, this one was in Kansas City. The theme of the fountain was the opening of the West.

Pretty much so. I'm from Texas, and at one point, the Anglos and Commanches had a meeting under a flag of truce, and concluded that one or the other of them would have to be eliminated.
For a considerable time, until the invention of a workable repeating firearm, the Commanches were winning. They had pushed back the Mexicans, and were doing the same with Texans until the Rangers got Colt Revolvers. Until then, the world's best light cavalry were just about unbeatable in a vast, flat country with room to run. That tipped the balance, and the Commanche nation was eventually destroyed. |
