This was taken last Christmas, you simply cant get far enough back from the place without
the verticals seriously converging. So i decided to use the effect by including the lamp post. It was also a dull, boring day, with our usual sky. I wanted it to look all stormy and Gothic. So had a little tinker with it in Photoshop ![]() |

I can easily see this as 1 of 12 pics of the church for a yearly calendar. The only change I would make would be to remove the other lamp and replace it with the section of church behind it.

Mysterious and brooding, which is how I often react when seeing one of these large Catholic edifices (which I assume it is). Nice.

Very impressive photo that, Rob and what a difference the Minster looked on a sunny day in August 1982 - was holidaying in Harrogate and just HAD to visit the Minster and the Railway Museum.
BTW, if I look at that dramatic picture long enough, I'm sure I'll see Vincent Price or Christopher Lee step into frame......maybe Boris Karloff too!! |

Cheers, that was the look i wanted, i suppose i've seen too many Hammer Horror films.
I should remove the other lamp at the bottom but we're back there between Christmas and New Year and the D90 is twice the pixels of my old D40 which that was shot on. So will probably re-shoot it I'm hoping most of the scaffolding that was there last year will be gone now. |
