Taken some years back using a Pentax Super Program 35mm slr and I only recently got around to scanning the slide. Hope photos not taken with a digicam are ok. This is a view of the upper turret of one of the lighthouses on the Oregon coast. My memory does not serve me well in remembering which lighthouse this was.

Theres a few lighthouses within driving distance of where i live.I like to think that each one has got its own story to tell. Nice to see one up close.

Mealers, thanks for the reply - I appreciate your comment!

I've been to several of the lighthouses on the Oregon coast and each one does indeed have a story. I'm sure the ones near you have just as interesting stories. They are fun to visit, especially if they let you go into them and walk up to the room with the actual light.

If you look closely at this one, you can see through one of the windows the lens of the light inside.

That must be one of the central Oregon coast lighthouses, perhaps Haceta Head. I visited several of the Southern coast lighthouses a couple months ago and none of those have the octagonal catwalk. They are all round.

Nice shot.

Hi Cal, thanks for looking in and for the compliment. I can't remember ever visiting Haceta Head, but maybe I did - it has been probably 15 years ago that this picture was taken. If you can ever pin this one down, let me know!

I have determined that that is the Cape Meares lighthouse near Tillamook. I was there about two weeks ago and shot quite a few pictures.

Wow, Cal, you don't forget a thread, do you? :-)

Thanks for remembering about this thread and actually identifying which lighthouse my picture was of! Now I know how to properly caption this photograph.

Something about lighthouses, those solitary sentinals.

Whenever I see a reference to Tillamook I have to bring out the slides. This is the USS Tillamook in Yokosuka, Japan about 1968. I put it on the screen and took the picture that way, rather than scanning.
Would a tug boat be classified as Architecural?
