The last is a picture of The White House - home of the President of the USA.

Okay - this is the last one. The White House South Lawn, which is probably more famous than the front (north) entrance shown above. President Harry Truman had to fight to get the graceful portico added. It was a beautiful addition that greatly enhances the building.

nice series, Ladyhawk. the B&W make the pics look almost like they were taken in the 60's, and there's very little in the pics to show when they were done. neat effect. i gotta get back there one of these days... i spent a couple of days there in 1983, but didn't have nearly the time - and certainly not the camera - to really take advantage of the trip. one more place on my "gotta go there before i croak" list... :G

Squirl,

You hit the nail on the head. I wanted the pictures to look "timeless," as if they could have been taken at almost any time in the past half-century or so.

Washington is overflowing with beautiful architecture. Of course, one has to contend with ugly traffic signs, cement barriers (most of which began appearing after 9/11), etc., to get decent photographs of the buildings, although one can sometimes get around these things with PP work.
