Default Memory effect on NiMH batteries

I bought a Sony P31 with two NiMH batteries and charger. Sony's manual says about memory effect in NiMH batteries. I had read about memory effect only in respect of NiCad batteries and was under the impression that NiMH batteries do not have this problem. I will be grateful for expert opinion in this regard.

The "memory effect" is very minimal in NiMh batteries but does exist. Discharge the batteries to zero about every three or four months and then do a complete recharge. NiMh batteries lose their charge as they sit. If you plan on a large shoot, you should charge your batteries the night before or carry extra batteries.
