For those of you D300 owners using the EN-EL4a w/ portrait grip roughly how many shots per charge are you getting? On average. Realizing we use your cameras differently.
Thanks. |

I don't have the EN_EL4a but from it's rating (i.e. 2500mAh) it should get well over 2000 shots based on the 1000 shots I'm getting from my EN_EL3a (1500mAh) battery

How many cycles has your EN-EL3a been through? My two have only been through one and I think I'm only getting maybe 300-400 per charge. Hardly any chimping or using the built-in flash either. Perhaps my numbers will get better after a few cycles. |

I get between 700-900 shots out of the En-EL3, but I do alot of burst shooting and use the LCD quite a lot, and shoot with VR on. On Sunday I got almost 600 shots in freezing conditions.
I've never considered the EN-EL4...it's quite pricey and requires a different charger. I have 4 EN-EL3's and they supply all the power I need. |

IMO if you have to shoot more than 1000 frames a day then you are not composing at all...:-):G (That's like 30 rolls of films or 4 high-capacity 35mm backs in the old days!!!) rjseeney wrote: Quote:

I use my 17-55 the majority of the time so there is no VR. Instant Review is set to off. Barely even chimp. Do not shoot in bursts. Most of the time. Did you guys get 800 plus shots from the start? First charge? If so I'm wondering why I'm only getting roughly 300-400. Again I think I've only charged both batteries once so they've only been through one charge cycle.
Batteries are cheap at Amazon.com. At least for the EN-EL3a. They are 50% less than what they would run in Toronto (home). Might pickup a few more before I had back next year. |

Erased.
![]() And the 300-400 odd shots is over the course of several weeks. Not one day. Guess I was just wondering why every one is getting 750 plus shots per charge with their D300 and not me. As I said. It's probably because my batteries are brand new. Hopefully my numbers will improve after a few more cycles. |
