I have an Olympus 790 SW that I've been very happy with. I used it extensively for the past 6 months with no problems. However, recently I've had problems with the battery.

The last 3 times I've charged the battery (Olympus LI-42B), it seems to charge just like normal, finishing the charge in a few hours. I put the battery back into the camera, and the camera shows that the battery life is Green (full). I don't use the camera at all for 2 or 3 days, and when I turn the camera on, the battery is already Red (near dead). I thought perhaps I left it on or something, so I tried to re-charge the battery, but I get the same result. So basically, my battery seems to die without even using my camera.

The problem seemed to coincide with the LCD screen going dead one day when I took my camera swimming in the ocean. I dried it out with a fan and put some pressure on the screen with my fingers, and it came back to life. Ever since then, I've had battery problems. Also, whenever I take the battery out and put it back in, I have to reset the Date and Clock on the camera. It never used to do this.

Does this sound like a:
a) battery problem?
b) charger problem?
c) camera problem?

My brother is buying an Olympus camera this weekend, so I will be able to test his battery and charger to see if I can pinpoint the problem. Is there any harm in doing that?
