I am looking for a small, compact, portable battery charger to take with me on the road. I use NiMH batteries. Anyone have any experiences with backpackable chargers?

I can truly recommend the Maha C204W charger, it is quite compact, has an integrated transformer so it works all around the world and it doesn't use a huge plug in the wall thing. It charges the batteries completly and not too fast, not too slow(a little more than 2 hours). I simply love that charger.

If you can find it, try the new Uniross Globetrotter. It is exactly what you need, small and lightweight (70g without cells) works everywhere in the world and comes with plug adaptors to fit power plugs around the world. I haven't used it myself, but on paper it looks good. Individual charging slots, -dV and temperature end of charge detection. Apparently it folds to save space when not in use.
