Due to circumstances beyond my control my Lumix FZ7 has not been used since 7th July andthe battery is still in place. I've looked at every page in the forum and can't see whether my question has been answered. Is there a possibilty the camera will be damaged if the battery is left there for much longer? Thanks.

Are you saying that whatever the length the battery is in without being used there will be no effect on the camera? What if for instance it is left for 6-9 months?

Simply apply common sense - you really wouldn't leave a battery in camera unused for that length of time just in case it leaked.

Any rechargeable battery left unused will eventually discharge.

Leaving the battery in the camera for a very long time will not harm the camera, but it may kill the battery. A lot (if not most) cameras continue to use a very small amount of battery power, even when the camera is off, thus completely discharging the battery over time. Most rechargeable batteries do not like to be deep discharged and may not be able to recover.
