Which online retailer would you recommend for buying a back up battery for a panasonic dmc-tz1 ?

I once bought a non-Nokia battery for my cellphone and it sort of sizzled/melted in my phone (thank goodness my phone still worked!). So I am worried buying a non-panasonic brand for my camera--but that 60 buck price tag is a bit daunting.

My two online choices for batteries are www.thomas-distributing.com and www.sterlingtek.com - have had good service from both and the battereis I bought from them work fine.

Since it's lithium ion, go with OEM. Failure mode is venting with flame and internal safety circuit is a must. Some knock-offs are getting away without the circuit. When something goes wrong, you likely won't be able to track them down and collect damage either.

If you have to use third party, get something from a well respected brand, such as Energizer, Duracell, etc.

Safety aside, no names may have a mAh higher than the OEM it replaces, but often time the capacity is lower than the OEM by a significant amount.
