I have two origional Canon battery packs NB-2LH for my Canon XTI. I was wondering by using after market battery packs for my Canon XTI, can their be any damage to the camera.

I've never had any damage from aftermarket lithium cells in anything.
Keep in mind that lithium-ion cells are always excitable little things, and if fate has decided your camera is to melt down, it can happen with both off-brand and name-brand cells.

Some Dell laptop owners know this all too well...

I'd say go with offbrand and don't worry too much.

And if like the Original Rebel 511/12 Battery 3rd party replacements were both higher capacity by several hundred ma and 1/3-1/4 the price.

No they won't very likely harm the camera.
