Have you fully cycled the batteries ?

Ie nimh batteries need to be charged- discharged and recharged a few times to reach maximum capacity..

I have an H1 with a larger screen compared to the H2 and when I first got the camera the supplied Sony batteries gave out after 50 shots.

Now the same batteries can give me 400-500 shots with full time lcd use and some flash.

You also must remember the battery indicator on the H2 and H5 are very inconsistant, ie its typical to get the warning indicator of low battery and yet still be able to squeeze a hundred + shots out ...
