I've seen a few EN-EL3e batteries made by third party brands.

Are these fine to use or should I avoid?

Also, does anyone know of a battery that is higher than 1500mAh?

Thanks.

Some are ok, some aren't. In reality, you've spent over $1000 on a camera, why skimp on a battery. The extra $20 or so is worth the piece of mind.

Good point.

Actually, looking on eBay UK, brand new Nikon batteries are only circa £30 ($55) as opposed to £50 in the shops. Third party batteries are about £15. So yeah, point taken and I've just answered my own question lol!

In terms of total expenditure so far; what I've spent in GBP equates to circa 1,700 USD! Crikey! (D80 + 18-135mm + 70-300mm APO Macro.)

I notice that my friendly local camera shop www.wrexcam.com advertise Ansmann EN EL-3e for 29.99 ukpounds in their newsletter dated 9Jun. They try everything they sell, and generally very cheap, so I should think they're OK if they've got any. Try giving them a buzz (don't bother with email).

Good luck, Alan T
