MAHA chargers, which is best?

:? Looking at MAHA MH-C401FS or the MH-C204F . Anyone got an opinion?

MH-C401FS. It is the newest and has the latest in charging technology. Charges faster and cooler, can also do even a cooler slower charge if in no hurry.
I have quite a few chargers, this is the only one that gets used by me now. It does a good thorough job of charging.

Good Day,
Steven

Personally, I wouldn't touch the 204 because it requires the batteries be put in in pairs... and therefor they have to be at the same level of discharge. I doubt I could guarrenty that. When I buy a charger (fairly soon) I plan on getting a 401FS.

I recently picked up the MH-C204F because the kit it came in included 2 4packs of PowerEx 2200 mAh NiMH batteries for the same price as the MH-C401FS with 1 4pack of the same 2200mAh batteries (both where $79.95cdn). I figured I could wait about 2x as long for the batteries to charge for that extra set batteries which the local store sold for $29.95cdn anyways. So far I love the charger even it it won't handle individual cells. Since my camera takes 4 AA's and I picked up a set of 700mAh AAA's for my wireless mouse being able to charge cells individually wasn't an issue for me. :)

I brought the 401 a couple of weeks ago and so far have been really pleased with it, i also brought two packs of 2200 batts. The first charge took about 8 hrs the second charge was 7 hrs this was all on slow charge.I have not tryed the fast charge yet as i felt i would put a couple of trickle charges in first.I would like to know what times other users are getting for charging with this set up.By the way the batts did not get hot at all they were barely warm, not like the charger i got with my fuji 602.

special fuction

i have a maha charger and it's great, i have the one that you need to push the buttons to discharge the battries. Which brings me to a point, if you use that fuction to discharge the battery before charging does it discharge both batteries down then start the charge process, that would end the pairs same power issue.

Regarding the 401FS vs. earlier MAHA chargers, I received this note from Thomas Distributing: "the conditioning feature was dropped on the 401FS because the nimh cells don't need to be fully discharged before recharging. They have no memory or so little that a conditioning feature on the charger is not needed. You actually condition the battery every time you charge it use it and discharge it and recharge no need for the charger to to it."

Ihad several char4gers die on me, Maaha was one. I am so happy with the LaCrosse and its discharge/renewal cycle. Electrical engineer

Hello Designnut,

As an Electrical Engineer, you may want to check out the specifications on the linear step down regulator MOSFET used in the BC-900... I believe it is a NTGS3443T1 which is rated at a maximum power dissipation of 0.5 watts.

I have the MAHA C401FS. It works great. You can charge 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries. They don't need to be in pairs. Each battery holder is on an independent circuit.

I use the Maha Powerex 2700 batteries. Spent a week on vacation, took over 200 shots, and reviewed all of them several times. They were still holding a charge when I got home.

Ordered the batteries and charger from Thomas Distributing on a Wednesday morning, the package was on my doorstep on Friday!

What do the experts think of the comparison between the C401FS and the C800S? Ignoring the 4-cell vs 8-cell issue, what is the effect of battery life by using the discharge function of the C800S vs the "FLEX negative pulse algorith" of the C401S. I guess the question comes down to: how do you evaluate Maha's statement that 'FLEX Pulse also makes traditional "battery conditioning & cycling" unnecessary as the pulse eliminates the memory effect just by charging the batteries'?
