Default weird charge light of a digipower pack for canon S50

I picked up a Digipower BP-CN2L at compusa for 30$, it is supposed to be compatible with the NB2L which powers the Canon S50/S30/40/S45 series.

Weired thing about it is the way charge finishes.
With the original battery, the charger light switches from red to green, to signal a full charge.
The canon charger apparently doens't like the idea of someone making a buck at canon's expense, so after a while, the light switches from a steady red, to a alternating gree-ref-green-red...

What do you think ? a defective pack ? canon conspiercy ?

I had the same problem with a 1000 mAh NB-2L generic I bought on ebay. It died after about 2 months. Now I am using a 1200mAh generic from ebay also ($2.99 each!), and it charges to a steady green light, and lasts slightly longer than Canon's battery. We'll see how long it lasts...
