I like my Eneloops so well that I have worn a couple of them out, plus I need to increase my supply due to Santa's photographic largesse.

But I can't find Eneloops locally any more. I don't understand why - it certainly isn't price, because other rechargeables cost as much or more than Eneloops that I find on line.

I seem to recall some discussion of Eneloops having some competition nowadays, but I can't find the thread. Are some other manufacturers marketing low-discharge batteries? How do they compare to Eneloops?

Seriously considering ordering online from Thomas and paying shipping just to get the brand I have learned to trust.

I came across on a thread on another forum that some of theDuracell LSD AA cells are re-branded eneloops. The key is to make sure they have a white surface next to the positive terminals and that they're made in Japan. I did see these at a Best Buy before the holidays.

It is said that Sony's Cycle Energy Blue (or Ready To Use Rechargeable) are manufactured by Sanyo (Eneloop).

Thanks to the replies. I found some Duracells with the white top, labeled "Pre-charged," and gave them a try. I haven't taken the time to do any cycles on the charger to evaluate them, but they seem to be performing comparably to my old pals the Eneloops in my cameras; but it is a bit early to give them a full endorsement.

I recently picked up a dozen Maha Powerex Imedions...low self-discharge, 2100 mAh. So far, so good...still won't know for awhile just how good. I have been using and am very happy with Eneloops, but caught a very good deal on the Imedions with a charger from wiredqube...

There are also those that are made in China, these are not rebranded eneloops.
I have 12 Sony Cycle Energy Blue cells, all made in China, same as Rayovac hybrids.
