So I bought a HD Digital camcorder from Aldi(talked baout in this thread http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=92 ) and would like to get an extra battery for it. I looked on ebay and founda Samsung batterythat was the right size(looked like it anyway), same voltage(3.7), but it was 900mAh instead of 1050mAh. Will that still work in my camcorder? here's the auction I was looking at in case it helps:

Thanks for any help!

Having the correct terminal voltage, and (obviously) the correct contacts & fitting lugs is essential, but the mAh rating denotes the storage capacity, how many electrons, the battery stores. Other things (e.g., quality of manufacture) being equal, the1050mAh battery will last longer than the 900mAh, but both should work.

To get the energy (in milliwatt-hours, mWh) delivered by the battery, you multiply the mAh capacity by the voltage, i.e., how many electrons there are, by how strong they are. You probably pay for your domestic electricity by the kilowatt-hour (kWh). There's a million mWh in a kWh.
