Default Storing Lithiums charged.

Just got a Canon Digital Rebel. I bought an additional battery pack and am wondering whether charging it and keeping it in my bag for extended periods of time is a good idea. Any sage advice?

Can't say about lithium ion rechargeable batteries, but regular (non-rechargeable) lithium batteries have an extra long shelf life (the last set I bought are best before 2012). Guess you'll have to experiment.

It is my understanding that you can keep them around in your bag and they will keep a charge for awhile. At least, that is what I do.

Default Li-ion Rechargeable Self-Discharge Rate

Your BP-511/512 is a Li-ion battery. Li-ion has a low self-discharge rate of 0.3% ~ .06% per day at approximate temperature of 20C/68F. Due to this reason, you can expect approximately 90% of it's fully charged capacity even after sitting idle for one month!

Have a nice day!
