Default Lacrosse BC-900 Charger active and passive power usage?

My lacrosse charger is plugged in 24/7.

I'm just wondering if anybody has tested to see what's the power comsumption of it.

I would hate to find out that it uses 25 watts just sitting there without any batteries in it....

if you are too lazy to unplug it, I hope it needs 25.000 watts without batteries.

why do you ask silly questions ?

I'm not the OP but it's a good point. Easy solution too. I have a bunch of chargers. I like to leave them all plugged into a power bar with the wires hanging over the edge of a table. Labelled. Sure makes it easier to grab the correct wire and just plug it in. I can turn off the whole power bar when I'm not charging anything.

I've a lot of power bars (€ 2.50 each) with EIGHT connectors and ONE switch.
Often it is better to THINK than to ask like a dude.

My Lacrosse is plugged in all the time as well... so your question raise my curiosity and I've just got to measured it:

~0.3W when it's idle
and about 4W when it's charging 4 AA NiMh cells @ 200mA (i.e. active)

A quick update:
When the 4 AA are completely charged (showing FULL), the unit drop back down to ~ 1W of power consumption...

-> As a reference, those glowing indicator light at the end of the power strip draw about .6W from the AC (when the strip outlets are enabled)!

I have a number of chargers. I leave it on all the wires hanging over the table bar on board.Certainly it is easier to grasp the wire right and paste it inside I close the entire supply rail when I do not charge anything.

I just unplug my charger while it's not being used
