Default Nikon 5400/5700 recharging question...

I need to be able to recharge whichever digital camera I buy on my sailboat's DC 12 volt electrical system (similar to a car cigarette lighter). Are plugs available for the Nikon 5400 or 5700 that make this possible, or will I have to run the camera through an inverter to charge it?

I got burned on a laptop I bought last summer on this very issue, so I want to be sure this time around.

Thanks in advance.

Nikon makes a car-charger for the en-el1 battery used in the nikon 5400 and 5700. It is designed to run from the 12v lighter socket.

I think the part number is mh-53c for the car charger and mh-53 for the 120v wall charger. Very close in part numbers so need to be carefull.

I've been looking at a solar cell charger to take into the backcountry. Just not sure how well it works, have only seen it in magazine ads so far.
