Default Lithium to replace NiMh (3.6V --> 2.4V) battery pack

I've looked around the internet for MONTHS and have found nothing very helpful on this topic. I want to use lithium batteries to power a device normally run on standard AAs. I would greatly appreciate it if someone in the know could point me to information on how to put together a battery pack which reduces the voltage output. It seems to me that this should not be very difficult at all, but I don't know why I cannot find any good information on this. Thank you.

No one knows anything about voltage downregulation? I could really use help. Also, I'm sure I am not the only one who would be interested in an answer to this -- anyone? anyone?
