All you need is an pencil eraser, just a few rubs on the contacts and its done.

you have to watch what type of eraser it has. the std pink on top of the #2 model has a mild abrasive in it. ok if there is corrision and needs to remove it, bad on new clean terminals. it will scratch the metal and accelerate the potential for corrosion.

Default Battery corrision

If your batteries are corroded throw them away. You camera cost alot more than new set of batteries. If they are oxidized or discolored the pencial eraser is a grand idea. I never remove my batteries from my camera because I use it almost everyday. If you are going to have long periods that you will not be using your camera, remove the batteries. I would define a long period as a week or more.

Default Battery Terminal cleaning - thanks all.

An interesting group of responses. Main point is to avoid contaminating them with 'finger oil - otherwise gently swab with good grade of alcohol. Learned long ago to avoid 'erasing contacts - the abrasive wore off gold plating from circuit board. Was looking for safe alternative cleaners to alcohol.
