Hello, I am currently looking for a camera for my wife. I am seriously considering the Casio EX-Z40 for my wife due to the small size, decent optical zoom, and large LCD. However, one of the things I need to be able to do is charge batteries when traveling to Europe (and other places). Is there some sort of universal travel charger available for this camera/battery? The other option is disposable batteries like the AA's used by the Sony DSC-W1, but I don't believe there is a disposable option for the casio.

Thanks,
Erik

I have 4 digital cameras and they all came with dual voltage chargers. I would be surprised if the Casio didn't. Wait until you get it before you start looking for alternatives.

If for some reason the Casio doesn't come with dual voltage your best alternative is to get a voltage transformer for it.

You will need an appropriate plug adapter even if the charger is dual voltage, but they are cheap and can be picked up locally when you get there and know what kind you need.

Thanks! It didn't occur to me that it would probably come with a dual-voltage charger!

I bought a Casio EX-Z30 for my wife in Japan, and it comes with a charger that will run on ANY voltage between 100-240V, not just dual voltage.

Modern plugpacks use "switch mode" supplies, which will run from a wide variety of voltages.
