Hi

My new A80 was just delivered today and I was going to use NiCad batteries with it, but then I read the manual and it says "While it is possible to use AA-size nickel-cadmium batteries, performance is unreliable and their use is not recommended"

What does this mean, exactly? What would happen if I used NiCads? Would my camera blow up or something? :?

What are the best kind of batteries to use, which last a long time?

NiCad technology is rather dated (they haven't been used for years inmost electronic devices needing rechargeable batteries).

NiCads tend to degrade much faster than NiMH batteries, don't have the same capacity, and have "memory" problems getting to maximum charge.

NiMH batteries are recommended. See this article:
