I want to build an external battery pack for my Oly 770. The jack on the camera for the Factory wall wart power supply states that 4.8 volts dc is required. I want to run my battery power in the same jack. But, how can I get 4.8 volts from a combination of NMH AA's? Three cells will yield approx. 4.5 volts and 4 will be just short of six volts. Should I try six volts? Too risky? If anyone has experience I would like to hear your ideas.

Thanks much for your time,

Not quite true. I believe the voltage of NiMH AA cells is 1.2volts under load.

4 cells may be alright, if you consider 4.8volts is correct for the Oly770, but I note that the internal battery used in this camera, the Li-10B, is rated at 3.6 volts.

Accordingly 3 NiMH AA cells could be a wiser choice. Possibly some experienced Oly users could advise you.
