Different countries have different voltage and frequency of electrical supply, which charger (inbuilt or bought seperately) works at most international locations?

are ni-cd battery pack reliable or should preferrably go for LIthium batteries?

You should go with what battery type your camera uses! ;-)

If it's proprietary, you're stuck (usually) with the manufacturer's charger(s).

If it's AAs, then go with high capacity NiMHs (2300mAH or higher recommended).

Regarding the charger, look on the rating plate (it should say something like 120-240v/50-60Hz).

As Mike said, if they are AA's go for NiMH bats. And look for the charger international voltages. One I have discovered is the "Lightning Pack 4000N" charger. It is a great charger. with conditioning/charging/trickle/ with international in voltages.
